This Privacy Policy explains what information Kitsap Fireplace collects, how it is used and shared, and the choices available to you.

1. Scope and who is responsible
This Policy applies to kitsapfireplace.com, including the directory, guides, search features, public directory feed, and communications sent to the contact address listed below (collectively, the “Site”). “Kitsap Fireplace,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the Site under the Kitsap Fireplace name.
This Policy does not govern a fireplace business, government agency, mapping service, or other third party linked from the Site. Their own privacy policies apply.
2. Launch-state summary
As of the effective date, the Site does not intentionally use public account registration, public comments, public reviews, public listing submissions, advertising pixels, behavioral advertising, visitor analytics, newsletters, or online payments. Ordinary public-page checks did not return a Set-Cookie header. Technical search and sign-in components exist, and the practices below explain the limited information they and the hosting platform may process.
If we add a form, analytics, advertising, newsletter, payment, public account, review, or submission feature, we will update this Policy and provide any consent or notice required before or when the new collection begins.
3. Information we collect
Information you choose to provide
If you email us or otherwise contact us, we may receive your name, email address, business affiliation, message, links, attachments, correction evidence, and any other information you choose to send. Please do not send passwords, payment-card information, government identification numbers, health information, or other sensitive personal information.
Search and interaction information
When you use directory search, filters, sign-in, or another interactive feature, the Site processes the terms, locations, categories, credentials, or other fields you submit so it can return results or attempt the requested action. Public account creation is disabled. Sign-in is intended only for authorized users.
Technical and log information
Like most websites, the Site and its hosting provider may automatically process internet protocol (IP) address, browser and device type, operating system, referring and exit pages, requested URL, response status, date and time, broad location inferred from an IP address, and diagnostic or security events. We use this information to deliver pages, secure the Site, detect abuse, investigate errors, maintain backups, and understand operational performance.
Directory and public-source information
We collect and publish business information from business-controlled or authoritative public sources. This may include business names, public business contact details, addresses, websites, product or service descriptions, and occasionally a professional contact name if relevant and already public in a business context. Listings identify their source and check date where practicable. This is directory information, not private customer data.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
WordPress may set a short-lived test cookie when someone visits the login page to determine whether the browser accepts cookies. When an authorized user signs in, WordPress uses authentication, security, language, and interface-preference cookies to maintain the session and protect administration features. Cookie duration depends on the cookie and whether “Remember Me” is selected.
The Site does not intentionally set advertising or visitor-analytics cookies as of the effective date. Third-party cookies are not set merely because the Site provides a normal outbound link, but a third party may collect information after you follow that link. 5. How we use information
We may use information to:

- return directory results and operate authorized sign-in or administration features;
- respond to questions, corrections, ownership requests, privacy requests, and disputes;
- verify and update directory records and preserve editorial provenance;
- detect, investigate, and prevent spam, fraud, security incidents, prohibited conduct, and technical abuse;
- maintain records and backups reasonably necessary for operations, security, and accountability; and
- comply with law, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect rights, safety, and property.
6. How we disclose information
We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those concepts are commonly defined under U.S. state privacy laws. We do not intentionally allow third parties to track visitors across unrelated websites through the Site as of the effective date.
We may disclose information in these limited circumstances:
- Hosting and technical providers. DreamHost hosts the Site and may process network, server, database, backup, and support data to provide hosting and security services. WordPress and the installed software process information on that infrastructure.
- Professional support. We may share limited information with legal, security, technical, accounting, or insurance advisers when reasonably necessary and subject to appropriate duties.
- Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when we reasonably believe it is required by law, legal process, or a valid government request, or necessary to investigate abuse, enforce terms, protect rights or safety, or respond to an incident.
- Organizational changes. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or transfer of Site operation, subject to this Policy and applicable law.
- With your direction. We may disclose information when you ask or consent.
Directory information and any message or correction that you ask us to publish will be public. Do not provide private information for publication.
7. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, to maintain appropriate business and editorial records, resolve disputes, secure the Site, enforce agreements, and comply with law. Retention depends on the information:
- DreamHost currently documents a default seven-day retention period for HTTP access and error logs; hosting defaults may change.
- Unsuccessful or successful authentication events may be retained in operational or security logs according to hosting and security needs.
- Email, correction, ownership, dispute, and privacy-request records may be kept while the matter is active and afterward when reasonably necessary to document the decision, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations.
- WordPress content, directory provenance, administrator records, and backups may remain until replaced, deleted, or no longer reasonably needed. Backup copies may persist for a limited period after deletion from the live Site.
When information is no longer reasonably needed, we take reasonable steps to delete, deidentify, or securely dispose of it, subject to technical and legal limitations.
8. Your privacy choices and requests
Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; to withdraw consent; or to appeal a request decision. These rights are not absolute and may be subject to identity verification and legal exceptions.
Send a request to gpt@aldermedia.net with the subject “Privacy Request.” Describe the request and the email address or interaction involved. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity or authority. Authorized agents should identify the person represented and provide proof of authority. We will not discriminate against you for making a privacy request.
You may also ask us to correct public business information by identifying the exact field and providing a current business-controlled or authoritative source. Editorial and factual records may be retained where permitted even if public display changes.
9. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Browsers may send Do Not Track (“DNT”) or Global Privacy Control (“GPC”) signals. Because the Site does not intentionally engage in cross-site behavioral advertising or sell or share personal information for that purpose as of the effective date, these signals do not currently change the Site’s behavior. If practices change in a way that makes a signal legally applicable, we will update our response and this Policy.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the limited information and risks involved. Measures include HTTPS, restricted administration, dedicated authenticated remote access, server-identity verification for administration, software updates, backups, and access controls. No internet transmission, website, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
If you believe the Site or information associated with it has been compromised, contact gpt@aldermedia.net promptly. Do not include exploit code, credentials, or sensitive personal information in an initial message.
11. Children’s privacy
The Site is a general-audience home-improvement directory and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action. Do not submit information about a child through the Site.
12. Visitors outside the United States
The Site is operated for a Washington-focused U.S. audience and is hosted in the United States. If you access it from another country, information may be transferred to, processed, and stored in the United States, where laws may differ from those in your location. Where applicable law grants additional rights, you may contact us to exercise them.
13. Third-party links
The Site links to fireplace businesses, government agencies, mapping tools, and other independent websites. Following a link takes you to a third party whose collection and use of information are governed by its own privacy notice. We are not responsible for third-party privacy or security practices.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in the Site, providers, law, or information practices. We will post the revised Policy here and update the “Last updated” date. If a change is material, we may provide an additional notice on the Site when appropriate. The version posted when information is collected governs that collection unless law requires otherwise.
